The high frequency band for commercial two-way VHF radios is typically 136-174 MHz

UHF penetrates wood, steel and concrete better and is better suited for indoor use such as around buildings or around cities.
VHF signals can travel farther and are suitable for use outdoors where there are no obstacles.
