When you first purchase a radio. You may be worried about what frequency you need. I don’t know how to choose the frequency that suits me. So, which one is better for me, VHF or UHF radio? This is a very basic but important question.
Today we will discuss which frequency range of walkie-talkies is suitable for you from different aspects.
UHF stands for "Ultra High Frequency."
VHF stands for "Very High Frequency."
UHF can range from low frequency band (378-512 MHz) to high frequency band (764-870 MHz).
Commercial two-way UHF radios are available in the high frequency band 450-512 MHz.
VHF can range from low frequency band (49-108 MHz) to high frequency band (169-216 MHz).
The high frequency band for commercial two-way VHF radios is typically 136-174 MHz
UHF penetrates wood, steel and concrete better and is better suited for indoor use such as around buildings or around cities.
VHF signals can travel farther and are suitable for use outdoors where there are no obstacles.
susceptible to interference
UHF is less susceptible to interference from other radios
VHF is susceptible to interference from other radios
Once you understand their basic differences, your choice will be clearer.
When making a choice, we need to make a choice based on our own circumstances. Today we will help you choose the walkie-talkie that suits you from the aspects of applicable scenarios, cost performance, signal coverage, etc.
If you buy a walkie-talkie for use in closed or highly dense areas such as urban buildings, UHF radios will be your best choice.
So if your workers are out in the field opening communications over long distances or working safely in large outdoor areas. Then VHF radio will be your best choice.
