1 x Retevis RHD-771 VHF/UHF SMA-M Antenna
John Roberts
Although I haven't screwed these into an SWR meter, I can tell by the range and the quality of materials that the 20W Retevis antennas are above the competition. They're thicker, heavier and robust, and I feel a confidence in them that is lacking in others.
No, I haven't relegated my other antennas to the sacred Drawer Of Antiquity in my dressing room. I still love my Nagoya NA-771, 24J antennas, nor have I chucked my Abbree flat antennas into the Bin of Broken Oaths. But when I find I can't hear all parties, I find I'm more often than not reaching for my Retevis 20W antennas.
Not only do they work (unlike my Airiton NA-771s, which I relegated to the Bin of Broken Promises, from whence no traveler returns).
My reception is clear, crisp and is great at transmitting! I've yet to test the range, but given that the company recommends the antenna for its Retevis RT-29 (which comes with a stock antenna that's very good), I suspect it's better, though only time will tell. The RT-29s are a fine pair of HTs and I wouldn't want anything more powerful coming up the pipe. I also use the antennas for my Baofeng H6/H7 radios.
As with anything, try these antennas and see how they work for you, then hightail it back here and leave a review! I think you'll like them.
