Clydemarine radioReviewed on Aug 16,2022They came safe and sound. In the kit metal-hydride AK-ry. The sound is good, loud, low-frequency, not characteristic of conventional Chinese races. In reality, more massive than they look in the photo. Antenna is flexible. For water and forest the most it.Rushgreat radioReviewed on Aug 16,2022I ordered this twice and The two radios is very goodSam I Amgreat radioReviewed on Aug 16,2022This little radio has its home in my pfd when I venture out on the water in my kayak in San Francisco Bay. Hopefully I will never need it but I am comforted that I can call for help if I get into a situation. It is much safer to use than a cell phone. Recommended.Typical Consumereasy to useReviewed on Aug 16,2022Smaller than most other handheld vhf radios and slightly lighter in weight. It’s easy to set up and has options of US, Canadian and International frequencies. You can program any number of channels to scan and set up a favorite channel to switch to from 16. It has the option of high or low power transmission. It has 85% of the features you might ever need except some of the automated gps transmission functionsE. Crousegreat radioReviewed on Aug 16,2022I've taken this Retevis RM01 out sailing for a number of days on Galveston Bay and have been very pleased with the performance of this little radio. The audio from the built in speaker is loud and very clear and I can hear it easily over wind and waves. I've been told by folks that my TX audio is loud and clear as well, and based on hearing myself through the boat's onboard VHF radio I am very happy with the audio quality of the microphone, even in 20 knot winds. I've communicated with boats that were across the bay from me, 3 or 4 miles away, and that's about the range I would expect from a 3w radio. So as a basic radio it passes the most important test, being able to communicate with boats around me. I'm also impressed with the features they included in this inexpensive radio. To start with, it actually includes a useful user manual. It isn't overly wordy but in 6 pages they describe all the display icons and menu options, how to set them, and how to use them in an easy to understand format. The RM01 has 3 scan modes. Dual scan will watch the current channel and 16, and tri scan will watch those two and a user specified call channel, like ch9. Then there is a scan mode which will rotate through all channels I have tagged and I can tag/untag as many channels as I want. It will pause on any channel with traffic for a configurable number of seconds then continue on if I don't stop it by pressing a button. I found this very handy for scanning 16 as well as the various channelIndymarine vhf radioReviewed on Aug 16,2022The good news is that Retevis RM01 Handheld Marine Radio does its job as a 1W/3W handheld. The bad is that the design decisions on this make it something you should probably avoid if you're a serious mariner. 3 stars. I am very much in favor of anyone on the water carrying a marine radio of some type and this qualifies; relying on your cell phone can be incredibly dangerous as they often won't get reception a few miles out, and modern communication means that you don't need a 25 watt radio for authorities to pick a signal up. So the basics here are that it qualifies as a cheap marine radio given the scan and guard features. Now comes the problems. First, as others have noted, the battery design here is bizarre. I like that it uses standard batteries - in this case 5 AAAs are included, but why they didn't use the larger charge of AAs (along with only 4 so you could get a replacement set) is strange. This moves to much stranger as the charge port will not allow you to use the radio without batteries and doubles as an earpiece port; both are bad decisions. The bigger issue is the radio itself. I suspect many people aren't going to figure out how to adjust the squelch - it took me a while, you have to use the up and down buttons when you double press the volume/squelch button - but what bothers me far more is that there is no lock for the transmit key. There's a lock alright, but it's to lock a *channel* rather than the transmit button, which means this has a very good chanceSilverwork greatReviewed on Aug 16,2022Arrived and boxed fine.
